Fabrication
Doric Signs bend, cut, form, curve and weld metal and plastics.
Stove enamelling and powder coating
Once a sign has finished in the fabrication department it is degreased and stove enamelled or powder coated. Powder coating is the more durable of the two options with over 10 years staying power. The powder is sprayed onto the sign using electro static to ensure the coverage is smooth and even before it is heated and fuses with the metal. Stove enamelling is the other alternative; the highest quality paint is used to ensure a pure, clean and even finish. The result is durable and therefore easier to screen print.
Screen printing
Although modern screen printing started at the start of the 20th century, becoming popular in the USA to print flags and banners in the first world war, it is still an excellent way of printing blocks of colour onto a sign. It is cost effective for small runs of print from 1 to 250. We still use traditional hand printing benches which means our set up charges are reduced compared with semi-automatic or automatic printers.
Most of Doric’s print, unless it is very fine, is done through a relatively large nylon mesh, giving a good deposit of ink on the sign surface thus enhancing the signs durability and longevity. Screen printing is still one of the preferred methods used at Doric and we have a highly proficient team of printers to carry out this work.
Vinyl lettering
In recent years the range of vinyls available has increased enormously. There are a wide variety of colours, effects and finishes available including etched, crystal, metallic and colour.
Digital print
Digital print is ideal for posters, banners, promotional display panels, vehicle livery and window graphics. Using ADOII inks, true colours are obtained using colour matching systems such as Pantone ® and at a resolution up to 1440dpi the results are stunning. All our digital prints are water, UV and scratch resistant for up to three years and can be laminated for extra durability. Protective finishes
Doric has created its own lacquer which is baked onto all our metal signs. This protects the sign from UV rays which in turn ensure the colours remain vibrant and do not fade. Anti graffiti film can also be applied to give added protection.
Laminating
Lamination of digital prints provides a protective barrier between the image and external elements. It will protect window graphics from UV rays, wind and rain, floor graphics from people’s feet, and vehicle liveries from car washes. Although it is not always essential, lamination will improve the durability of any digital print.
